The national park also boasts a number of picnic grounds and scenic spots for visitors to visit. There are a number of picturesque walks and hiking trails, and you can pick up a map from the Parks Victoria website. There is no fixed address for the Dandenong Ranges National Park, as there are a number of access points, so you should consult a map before entering to decide which areas of the Park to explore.

The National Rhododendron Gardens (formally known as The Dandenong Ranges Botanic Garden) is a popular destination located in the Dandenong Ranges. This serene setting houses a variety of colourful blooms; including azaleas, camellias, rhododendrons and daffodils. The gardens are known to house some of the rarest and most popular Australian flora and fauna. You can explore the habitat of rare lyrebird species, with a number of visitors heading to this park in winter in order to watch this rare bird. You will also find several other bird species; including king parrots, ducks, peacocks and crimson rosellas.

Grants Picnic Ground is a beautiful spot for picnics and one of the most popular destinations for outdoor lovers in the Dandenong Ranges. The picnic ground still provides a tranquil setting and is the perfect place for a leisurely afternoon picnic with family and friends. In addition to the many outdoor activities, Grants Picnic Ground is a hub of activity for nature lovers. There are picnic facilities here that include an accessible table, BBQ facilities as well as a parking bay. There are also toilets available for use and Grants on Sherbrooke Cafe where you can purchase food, drinks and souvenirs.

Named after the famous artist William Ricketts, this beautiful sanctuary is a worthy place for a weekend getaway or day trip. There is no entry fee for the sanctuary and all are welcome to this peaceful place of reflection and quiet contemplation. Come and explore the sanctuary to understand the artist’s vision about the Aboriginal culture from the intellectual, historical and social point of view.

The falls are located within the Olinda Reserve, which can be accessed through Falls Road. The Olinda Falls boasts a viewing platform and various lookouts, from where you can see the stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The walk to Olinda Falls takes up to about 10 minutes, but note has no steps and minimal gradient. Amenities onsite include a car park area, picnic tables and unisex toilet with wheelchair accessibility

Lysterfield Park boasts many natural features and is also a popular spot known for its numerous recreational activities such as  Sailing, kayaking, surf skiing and mountain biking. Come along and soar through Victoria’s first tree ropes course, situated in the Dandenong Ranges. Move through the branches on an array of ziplines, tight ropes and tunnels! The estate, which is located on traditional Wurundjeri land, now spans eight hectares of forest alongside the Puffing Billy station in Belgrave. It features rare trees, including a magnificent 150-year-old Algerian Oak, used as the ‘Home Tree’.
